Pastor Doug's Thought For Today 7/02

Good Morning,

I celebrated another trip around the sun yesterday.  Carol made sure it was a special day as did so many people in my life.  Thank You!  The recovery from surgery continues, today I have PT.  I am trying to do everything I am supposed to do.  I have attained my goal of 7500 steps a day and will not exceed that for some time.  I am committed to running again and have to remind myself or that goal every day.  The key to that is proper rehabilitation and following the plan. I am so blessed to be surrounded with your love, grace and support.  The 4th of July is around the corner and Sunday we kick off VBS with our rally.  Be a part of the event and enjoy the warmth of community.  Have a great day!

Blessings, Doug

Today's Scripture

Jeremiah 17:9-10 (New International Version)
The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? “I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve.”

Today's Thought

Jeremiah clarifies that the heart is deceitful.  It is said that the heart wants what the heart wants.  This may be true, but what Jeremiah tells us is true as well.  Just because the heart wants it doesn't mean it is right.  The deceitful heart will point us at a very self-serving life and a life that distances us from God.  We are to serve God, nor ourselves and that means a serious evaluating of our priorities.  The heart is reflected by our culture today.  Me first, what I want, what I need these are the outcries.  This is not the mind of God.  The heart will lead us down a road to ruin.  Lord make in me a clean heart.   Just a thought for today!
