Pastor Doug's Thought for Today November 5

Good Morning,

We had a great morning on the Parkway the trees are really becoming colorful and beautiful.  I joined the Y this week to get in some additional rehab on the knee.  My surgeon believes I can get my groove back and run again, but I need some specific exercise.  MidWeek@Ashland is tonight, hope to see many of you there.  Operation Christmas Child dedication is this Sunday.  We have 5 boxes left we had one returned empty. If you would like to lend a hand this is fun way to engage in mission.  I hope you have a great day!

Blessings, Doug

We have pictures from the 50+ outing to the Cronkite Museum available in the office if you would like a copy.

Today's Scripture

Romans 13:6 (New International Version)
This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing.

Today's Thought

These verses from Romans are problematic in many ways.  Paul is reminding the people to not be lawless even tough the Roman government is a pagan government.  Government strives to provide order and those that give their life to it need paid.  He wanted them to pay taxes to help maintian a civil society.  I suppose we should assure those that serve us are paid as well.  Just a thought for today!
