Pastor Doug's Thought for Today November 4

Good Morning,

It feels like a heat wave in St. Joseph this morning.  We have some wind but the temperature is  warmer.  MDO today so lots of young families in our doors.  I am so excited about the way people responded to the Open Door Food Kitchen Saturday.  Clearly we can engage more folks by changing our approaches to ministry.  Operation Christmas Child dedication is this Sunday.  We have 4 boxes left if you would like to lend a hand.  This is fun way to engage in mission.  I hope you have a great day!

Blessings, Doug

Today's Scripture

2 Corinthians 3:6 (New International Version)

He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

Today's Thought

I want you to sit with this verse a minute.  Paul is wanting us to consider what legalism really means.  We don't need to have scripture memorized to be effective followers of Jesus.  We do however need to know the spirit of the law.  The law will lead us to the weeds, whereas the Spirit will lead us to new life and freedom.  Ask yourself the questions.  Does this reflect a loving God?  Does this reflect me loving my neighbor?  These questions will always point you in the right direction.  Just a thought for today!
