Pastor Doug's Thought for Today November 3

Good Morning,

Monday has arrived and it leaves behind a busy weekend. Halloween we were over ran with kids and it was so much fun.  Saturday the Food Kitchen was a huge success, we hosted the District Saturday morning, and had eSports in the afternoon.  Sunday we celebrated All Saints Day and then the afternoon was a disappointment.  Chiefs just couldn't put it together.  We have a bye to rethink and recover.  I am a fan to the end, "Go Chiefs".  Have a great day, fall is certainly. here.

Blessings, Doug

Today's Scripture

Romans 13:1 (New International Version)

Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

Today's Thought

This is bit of a confusing verse.  Paul is speaking to folks that live in a very tough Roman environment.  He wants them to be mindful of the authority of the government but ends the verses with an assurance that God is in control.  Paul walks a fine line writing.  He wants to invoke the Kingdom of God while encouraging the people not to break the law of the land.  A challenge to them and to us.  Dr. Martin Luther King Jr had the solution.  Resist with love and peace when the laws of the land counter the laws of the Kingdom.   Just a thought for today!
