Pastor Doug's Thought For Today 8/05

Good Morning,

The morning is beautiful.  We got 2.25 miles in and worked on balance exercises.  Tonight we are off to Starlight, and it looks to be a great evening. Carol mowed the yard yesterday with the tractor and she did a great job.  It really made my day.  I have some trimming and hedge to deal with, but she saved me hours.  Construction continues and by Sunday you should notice some significant change.  Today is MDO so lots of folks in and out. Get out an enjoy today, the heat is returning for the weekend.  Have a great day!

Blessings, Doug

Today's Scripture

Psalm 119:130 (New International Version)
The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.

Today's Thought

The heart of God and following God isn't difficult.  Jesus calls us to have the faith of children indicating that we should not overcomplicate it.  I had a conversation with a delivery person yesterday that really blessed me.  He wanted to tell me about how he had been hurt by the church.  It was legalism and judgement that had turned him away from God.  I shared with him the value of loving God and loving each other as the heart of God.  I hope God will use the conversation to bring him healing.  I want us to stop making faith complicated and lean into God's love and grace for us. Just a thought for today!

I hope you gave that delivery person a testament. There is power in the Word! Our Gideon testaments are designed with “help “ sections to lead an inexperienced person to verses that actually help. Sometimes it takes years before God leads that person to the right message but through prayer it will happen.
