Pastor Doug's Thought For Today 7/21

Good Morning,

Thank God it's Monday!  I know that is what you were thinking.  Today marks one month since my knee replacement surgery and recovery is going well.  Carol and I were on the Parkway this morning.  I wasn't running and we only went 1.4 miles, but it is a start.  I have PT this morning and my follow up with Dr. Smith on Friday.   I ended the aspirin and anti-inflammatory Sunday. Carol's better, not completely recovered from poison oak, but improving.  The Chiefs are in town, and we are off to camp tomorrow. (Thank you Bob Bucher!!) This is a busy week, and we are preparing to take the kids to Florida for a few days next week.  It will be quick trip, we fly out Monday and fly back Friday, but it should be fun.  It is hard to get everyone together at all these days.  Be careful and stay cool, the heat is back!

Blessings, Doug

Today's Scripture

Psalm 119:30 (New International Version)
I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have set my heart on your laws.

Today's Thought

David strives to always be faithful.  He has his stumbles along the way but always finds his way back to God.  The faithful life is a challenge.  I struggle to be faithful to God as well.  I am blessed to preach every Sunday morning and reach so many people every day through this blog and I want to be faithful.  That means there are times I have to speak hard truth that doesn't always make everyone happy.  We don't have the luxury of picking and choosing what Jesus tells us to do.  We need to rethink how we live out the greatest commandment.  It is one thing to say I love God and something completely different to live it out.  Faithfulness to God means going against culture and standing up for and loving our neighbor.  Just a thought for today!
