Pastor Doug's Thought for Today December 9

Good Morning,

We are counting down the days until Christmas.  Don't forget there will be no Sunday School this Sunday as we have the Children's Program at 10:00 am.  We want to support the hard work everyone has put into this program.  The part to fix the Genesis Wing furnace has been located and is shipped.  We won't have heat this Sunday, but no one will be using the space until December 21st and we expect everything to be working by then.  Yes it is expensive, but significantly less expensive than replacing the unit.  I slept better last night!  Today will be in the 50's!  Have a wonderful day!

Blessings, Doug

Today's Scripture

John 15:5,8 (New International Version)

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

Today's Thought

Every time I read this verse I think of our years in Dearborn and our volunteer pumpkins.  We have left halloween pumpkins by the garage door and over the winter these dissolved.  Spring brought the seeds to life and we had beautiful pumpkin vines.  The vines ran everywhere and we wonderful until one ran across the driveway and was ran over by  a car.  That vine not only didn't not bear fruit it died.  Why?  It was separated from the roots, from the source of life.  Such a classic example of our relationship with God.  Christmas reminds us of the source of life and the need to stay connected.  Just a thought for today!
