Pastor Doug's Thought for Today December 15

Good Morning,

Today is our youngest child's birthday, Happy Birthday Mark!  Well the weekend was a mixture of joy and disappointment.  The joy of Christ with coming the coming of Christmas and worship and then the disappointment of our Chiefs.  It has been a good run and we will return to our winning ways.  It will warm up this week and hopefully Ashland will get our heat restored in the Genisis Wing.  Please join in Christmas Caroling TUESDAY!!  Just to be clear we announced it incorrectly Sunday morning, it is not Wednesday, it is Tuesday. Have a great week and continue to prepare for Christmas.

Blessings, Doug

Today's Scripture

Luke 1:30-33 (New International Version)

But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”

Today's Thought

Mary found favor with God.  This little phase is so important.  Mary found favor with God.  Mary is young, she certainly is of child bearing age, but still very young.  God's favor isn't from Mary's great accomplishments.  We don't hear why, but I believe it is Mary's simple faith.  Mary is committed to God.  God wants from us what God saw in Mary.  God want us to give ourselves to Him.  That is coming home for Christmas.  Just a thought for today!
