Pastor Doug's Thought for Today December 5

Good Morning,

The temperature is a bit better this morning, but still chilly.  Carol is improving, but we won't be out walking for a day or two.  MDO is practicing for their Christmas Program today, then a quick turnover in the sanctuary for Joan Euler's funeral service.  I then head to Fredrick Blvd for Cheryl Portman Grayson's service. Lots going on today.  We still have no heat in the lower Genesis Wing.  It is a major repair; I hope to have it repaired next week.  We will relocate small groups for Sunday morning.  I apologize for the inconvenience.  I hope you have a great weekend and as always connect with Ashland as we continue our journey through Advent.

Blessings, Doug

Today's Scripture

John 10:7, 9-10 (New International Version)

Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep.

Today's Thought

We have heard Jesus is the "Bread of Life" and that "Jesus is the Light of Life" and today John tells us that Jesus is the gate.  What does that mean?  It  means that Jesus is offering us life.  We have thought so this as a gate to keep people out.  Jesus turning people away.  The opposite is true.  Jesus is the gate, the welcoming point for all into eternal life.  When we want to find eternal life, we turn to Jesus and He welcomes us.  Just a thought for today!
