Pastor Doug's Thought For Today 6/13

Good Morning,

Happy Friday the 13th.  This is celebrated day in our family.  Jess and Eric were engaged n Friday the 13th and married on Friday the 13th. They have big plans for today.  Carol's new project has been touching up all the black wrought iron trim on the house, it looks like she will finish this morning   I am 10 days our from knee surgery.  Carol and I got 3.5 miles in this morning; I am so ready to run again.  We shall see.  I have a wedding rehearsal tonight and wedding tomorrow.  We serve the Open Door Food Kitchen in the morning and worship on Sunday.  We have a quick trip to Como after church for a birthday celebration and don't forget Sunday is Father's Day.  I hope you have a great weekend and enjoy the weather.

Blessings, Doug

Today's Scripture

Luke 11:13 (New International Version)
If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

Today's Thought

We are urged in Luke to think about our understanding of God.  Jesus tells us about the goodness of God.  God is the giver of gifts, good gifts.  God is pure love, and pure love gives good gifts. Stop worrying about the punishment of God, God isn't a God of punishment but a God of grace and goodness.  Just a thought for today!
