Pastor Doug's Thought For Today 5/16

Good Morning,

I am writing this for the second time this morning.  The first edit disappeared so here we go.  It is Friday and Carol and I began the day on the parkway.  I am amazed at the difference walking is making in the way my knee feels.  I did yard work last night, it is very satisfying to have everything mowed and trimmed.  Today is the last day of MDO for the semester so a couple weeks off.  I have a wedding today and we have a graduation party tonight.  Sunday is Confirmation Sunday we have some great young people joining Ashland.  We will also welcome a family to membership at 8:00 am.  I confirmed both of their kids years ago and their son was in my first ever Confirmation Class.  It is another beautiful day so enjoy!  Don't forget to engage with us this weekend, everybody needs a little Jesus.

Blessings, Doug

Today's Scripture

Zephaniah 3:17 (New International Version)
The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”

Today's Thought

We don't read from the book of Zephaniah very often.  Granted the book is very short, three chapters, but it still matters.  Zephaniah is the ninth of the twelve minor prophets.  The name Zephaniah means hidden/protected or more directly Yahweh hides.  He has been called watchman of the Lord.  The book is an encouragement to Judah to obey Yahweh.  The verses today tell of God's love and encourage us to turn to God and God will delight in us. Just a thought for today!
