Pastor Doug's Thought For Today 3/14

Good Morning,
I started the morning at the Farm and City Breakfast. This is always a wonderful event. Thank you, Bob Bucher, for the invite. The weekend has arrived, and wet and cooler weather comes with it. I probably need a speed bump to slow down work in the garden. Carol and I went with friends to the Missouri Theater last night for a great evening. St. Joseph is blessed with a great venue and great entertainment. We have a terrific Sunday planned and hope you make Ashland a part of your weekend.

Today's Scripture

2 Peter 1:5-8 (New International Version)
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Today's Thought

I think it is important that we are productive and effective in our knowledge of Jesus. How does what test that? It isn't in a quiz of questions. It is using a sampling of our life. Do we exhibit the qualities that reflect our knowledge of Jesus? Peter helps us examine our life and work toward a more reflective life of Jesus. Lent is a good time to make that self-examination. How do we share our knowledge of Jesus? Just a thought for today!
