Sue Abarr joined the Ashland staff in 2017 as Chaplain. Since her retirement from teaching elementary school, Sue re-discovered her passion for engaging with people through the church community.  For four years, Sue visited nursing homes including Riverside, Meadowview, LaVerna, and Mosaic Hospital.

Chaplain Sue Abarr recently completed the Clinical Pastoral Education program at Mosaic Life Center under the direction of Rev. Sally Schwab.  The class was 400 hours of clinicals, overnight duties, and classwork.

Sue also completed the workshop of Congregational Care Ministry at The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection.

She is married to Sam and has two grown children, twins Austin and Ashley, who live in Colorado and Washington, DC.  She and her husband have three dogs  who occasionally join nursing home visits as therapy dogs.
