Pastor Doug's Thought For Today October 24

Good Morning,
It is RED FRIDAY in St. Joseph.  We play on Monday night, but we can't miss the chance to don our gear!  Next Friday will be Halloween and we will be sharing treats beginning at 5:00.  Carol is off to Columbia to watch kids while the kids get away for their anniversary.  Interesting fact you may not know, they were married in St. Joseph.  Big Mizzou game tomorrow, it will test us to say the least.  Enjoy the day, I am off to see my parents in the afternoon.  The days will get shorter and colder,  get out and enjoy today!

Blessings, Doug

Ken Gabler passed away yesterday, his funeral will be at Ashland Tuesday at 1:00 pm.

Today's Scripture

Proverbs 9:10 (New International Version)
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

Today's Thought

Translators have always been challenged to interpret scripture in English.  This is one of those passages that they have missed the mark.  Fear isn't the point of the verse.  Insert honor and respect, devotion, all these are far better translations.  When we hold the Lord in high esteem that is the beginning of wisdom.  Just a thought for today!
