Pastor Doug's Thought For Today October 23

Good Morning,
We had a real frost this morning in St. Joseph.  It was cold as we took to the Parkway this morning.  I hope you opened the letter you received from me this week.  Please check the statement and make sure we all agree.  Thank you!  We want to make sure we are on the same page now rather than wait until January.  Next Friday is Trick or Treat at Ashland.  We will start handing out candy at 5:00 and invite you to join in a little carry-in meal while we watch Ashland take on a Hallmark movie vibe.  The days will get shorter and colder,  get out and enjoy today!

Blessings, Doug

Today's Scripture

Galatians 6:2 (New International Version)
Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

Today's Thought

We are told to carry each others burdens. I am honored to be there and help others.  I think we are all ready to listen and help others.  Here is where the situation gets difficult for me and maybe for you too.  I am not good at inviting others to share my burdens. I don't want to burden someone else.  However, this thinking doesn't match up with God's instruction.  The other thing I fear is that I do that with God sometimes. I assume the issue is to small, or maybe I feel like it is my fault.  That isn't the way God wants us to live.  We must be willing to not only carry others burdens, but to share our own.    Just a thought for today!

(Disclaimer:  It is hard for me to admit this.  I hope to do better.)
