Pastor Doug's Thought For Today 9/11

Good Morning,
I woke this morning to memories of 2001.  This day is seared into the memories of all people of a certain age.  Violence and loss of life is always terrible.  Today's remembrance comes on the heels of yesterday violence and is a stark reminder of how broken we are as people.  A celebrity was shot and killed, but don't allow this to overshadow the two students shot and killed in Colorado. It is time for more than thoughts and prayers.  We must galvanize ourselves as people, not political parties and stop the violence.  May today be filled with the presence of God and may God's love and grace wash over and heal our hearts.   I hope you have a good day!

Blessings, Doug

Today's Scripture

Psalm 121:1-2 (New International Version)
 A song of ascents.
I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

Today's Thought

A powerful word for today.  We should all lift our eyes to the mountains and understand our help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.  Jackie Deshannon released a hit tune in 1965 that proclaimed the world needed love sweet love.  God instructs us to love first and foremost.  It is time to lay down our hate and turn to God.  Lift our eyes to the mountains, follow God and stop our self-centered attempts at resolution.  When we are willing to give up our way for the way of Jesus the world will be the place we want to live.  Just a thought for today!
