Associate Pastor Tere DeWitt brings the message to Ashland UMC on May 28, 2017 as part of our on-going "Cross Walks" series. When we hear the words, "Take up your cross, deny yourself, and follow me", it can be intimidating and sound "dangerous". But the reality is - there is only one way to truly protect ourselves.

Faith has been a topic of conversation since time began. We want to believe, but sometimes we struggle. In Mark 9 we hear these words, "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief." What does it mean to have faith? Faith is more than a feeling or emotion, faith in a personal relationship with God. What does a personal relationship look like? Can we develop our faith? Can we strengthen our faith? We certain can, but we need help. A strong faith and a strong relationship with God is built, it doesn't just happen. Faith is built upon practices; pillars of faith. Just as pillars support a building, pillars support our faith. Together we will explore the pillars of faith Methodism has modeled since the days of John Wesley. We are called Methodists for a reason, we have a method to nuture and develop our faith. Everything in life of value requires an investment. I encourage you to join us as we explore the greatest investment of our life, our faith.
